Demonstration of massive fracturing to provide gas production from tight gas sands in the Piceance Basin production from tight gas sands in the Piceance Basin was the objective of this work by Mobil. The project was partially funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. During the period 1974-1979 two wells were drilled, tested and fractured. Encourging results were obtained from the second well.

The first well, Brush Creek Unit 1-25, located near Collbran, Colorado, was drilled to 10,330 ft. Three Mesaverde formation intervals were tested and two of these were fractured. Results were discouraging because of low formation conductivity which ranged from 0.005 to 0.15 md-ft in the three zones. The second well, Piceance Creek Unit 31-13, located near Rio Blanco, Colorado, was drilled to 10,800 ft. Nine intervals were tested in the Mesaverde and Fort Union formations and six fracturing treatments were performed. Combined flow from all of these zones began at 3.2 MMSCF/day and declined to 1.7 MMSCF/day in 207 days.

Details of drilling, testing and completion are given in this paper along with estimates of fracture effectiveness. Preliminary economics are also given, based on the short production history available.


This report discusses a demonstration of the use of massive hydraulic fracturing (MET) in Mesaverde and Ft. Union (Ohio Creek) sands in the Piceance Basin. The work was performed by Mobil with partial funding by the U.S. Department of Energy. Progress of the work has been reported at DOE Symposia and details are summarized as of September 30, 1979 in a final report.

The presence of very large gas resources in low permeability reservoirs of the Piceance Basin and other permeability reservoirs of the Piceance Basin and other Rocky Mountain basins is well known. The U.S. Government, Mobil, and other private companies have mounted a substantial effort to convert at least part of these resources to recoverable reserves. part of these resources to recoverable reserves. Mobil’s efforts to obtain commercial gas from the Mesaverde reservoir of the Piceance Basin began in 1971 After extensive analysis and planning, the Brush Creek Federal Unit near Collbran, Colorado was selected as the site of the first well (see Figure 1).

The well, Brush Creek Unit #1-25, was spudded in April, 1974. Attempts to fracture a first zone in July, 1974 resulted in a screen out after pumping less than 300,000 pounds of a planned 1 million pound treatment. Estimated properties of this zone are kh = 0.15 md-ft, h = 50 ft, k = 0.003 md. This zone subsequently was plugged back. A second zone (7516-7720) was successfully fractured with 1 million pounds of sand. After fracturing, the well was pounds of sand. After fracturing, the well was production tested for a period of about two months production tested for a period of about two months followed by a five month pressure buildup test. All tests indicated the zone to have a kh of about 0.04 md-ft, too low to be commercial. A third zone at 7246-7330 ft was also tested, yielding a kh of 0.005 md-ft. The well was subsequently abandoned.


The Piceance Basin is asymmetrical with steeper dips on the east side. The Piceance Creek Field is located in the deeper, northeast part of the basin. (See Figure 1.). The Williams Fork Formation comprises most of the Mesaverde Group and has an overall thickness varying from about 3300 ft to 4200 ft west to east across the Piceance Creek Unit. (See Figure 2.). The Mesaverde is overlain by a relatively thin Ohio Creek (frequently referred to as Ft. Union) interval, followed by the Wasatch. Underlying the Mesaverde are the transitional or marine shales and sands of the Mancos Formation. The Williams Fork contains numerous tight, lenticular, gas bearing sands.

Sands lens continuity can only be inferred from general studies in the basin since well-to-well correlation of individual sand intervals from available logs is difficult or impossible.

The title of this article pretty much sums up the facts.

A massive 4 mile X 2 mile X 250ft deep landslide occurred just East of Collbran Colorado.

Ironically the landslide area contains the only nearby FRACKING INJECTION WELL OPERATION.

Sorry for the all caps on that, but its necessary to drive home the point on this.

5/26/2014 — Professionals ask “Are Airports tornado magnets?” — Radio Frequency Weather Modification 101

Answer = No ….. airports are not tornado magnets.

Instead, something at the airport is the “magnet”.

Microwave RADARs are confirmed tornado magnets.  Microwaves are proved to be tornadic vortex generators.

This past week showed us several examples of something we’ve seen for several years now, RADAR influenced (radio frequency pulsed) storms.

This past week, on the East coast, a large RADAR pulse / “HAARP ring” was generated by the Greer South Carolina NEXRAD RADAR station.

The storms which followed were very intense.  Containing large hail, damaging winds, and several tornado warnings across the area.  The epicenter of the RADAR pulse / “HAARP ring” was the spot hardest hit.  Followed by the Air Force base in Sumter South Carolina, another RADAR location of course.

Notice how the other areas were spared, the RADAR stations all took direct hits.

Just a few days before, this occurred in Denver Colorado, a tornado formed and came DIRECTLY to the RADAR.. this has now happened TWO YEARS IN A ROW in Denver, even the professional weather personalities made note of this fact:

This happened again in Denver, the very next day !!  After she made this post, another tornado warning was issued over the same area about 20 hours later!

To top it all off, on the East coast, Dover Delaware had a tornado warning DIRECTLY OVER THE AIR FORCE BASE RADARs!

Literally, the process can be reduced and described as such……radio frequency heating from a ground based station, which strips electrons from the atmosphere, causing CCN (cloud condensation nuclei) the precursor to rain.

It happens quite simply , as seen this past week, when two RADAR stations have overlapping coverages, a “scalar resonance” effect takes place between the two stations.

These examples below ALL HAPPENED SIMULTANEOUSLY across the United States, above multiple RADAR stations at the same time, each storm developed out of nothing directly over the RADAR locations.

Above: Missouri (springfield and kansas city) . Kansas City has storms directly over the center of the NEXRAD RADAR, the opposing / interacting RADAR out of Springfield has storm develop instantly along the perimeters of the station, 50nm and 100nm with the storms even TAKING THE SHAPE of the circular perimeter of the RADAR itself. Not a glitch or an artifact, the precipitation totals show the perfect circular curvature of the rotating NEXRAD RADAR station.

At the same time the above in Missouri occurred, the example below shows what happened simultaneously at the RADAR stations in Kansas .  Same exact situation occurred.

One station has storms form along the perimeter of the RADAR station, again TAKING THE SHAPE of the RADAR’s rotating curvature, and the opposing interacting station having storms develop DIRECTLY over the NEXRAD RADAR station.

Again, you might ask, how is this occurring?

Simply put, one station interferes with the other, causing small ions to form as the intersecting radio frequencies strip electrons from the atmosphere.  The electrons are the precursor to plasma / lightning.  Their magnetic charge attracts molecules of H2O, forming rain, and sometimes forming plasma / lightning which is visible.

Here are several past examples of this happening here in my home town of St. Louis Missouri.  Tornadoes forming over the NEXRAD RADAR in Weldon Springs, then traveling directly over the Air Force RADAR in Maryland Heights, then going to the Airport TDWR in Hazelwood.

A few more examples below….

Dover Delaware, experienced a RADAR pulse event, 12 hours later a tornado warning issued directly over the Air Force Base which emitted the RADAR pulse.  This happened THREE times over 1  year now.

(Below) Dover Air Force base is the only area to get a tornado warning issued 12 hours after the pulse, the direct epicenter of the RADAR event no less.

The SECOND time this occurred at Dover Delaware was just a few weeks ago (May 2014).

This time, a targeted pulse was emitted towards Washington DC. Followed by a SINGLE tornado warning issued directly over the area which was pulsed 48 hours later.

Example from Key West Florida — South Florida is not normally tornado prone in Mid-October.

On October 17 2011, A large RADAR pulse appeared from the Naval Air Station, followed by a tornado coming to hit the Naval Air Station @ the center of the pulsed area !
